WEEKLY VIRTUAL ART CLASSES

PAYMENT

Payment is for 1 child in 1 seat. If you have 2 children, you’ll need to pay for 2 seats, etc.

The fee for a virtual art class is less than the fee for an in-person art class, so it is already discounted. No additional discounts may be applied to a virtual art class fee.

Payment Options

If you pay on the ArtzHub website, please know that a payment processing fee will be added at check out. This fee is non-refundable and goes directly to our secure online payment processor, Stripe. We receive the amount advertised on our website. Once your payment comes through, I’ll send you a confirmation email.

If you wish to pay by check, please make your check payable to ArtzHub and mail it to PO BOX 3028, Chapel Hill, NC 27515. Email me to let me know you have mailed a check. Be sure to tell me which class day/time and your child’s name. Once your check arrives, I’ll send you a confirmation email.

MISSED CLASSES/ MAKE UP CLASS VIDEOS

If your child misses a live zoom after school art class, for any reason, an art lesson video will be emailed to you on Friday of the same week, around 5pm.

You may use the make up art lesson video whenever you wish. It will not expire.

There are no refunds or credits for missed classes, except for verified medical emergencies.

TRIAL CLASS FEE

If your child would like to try one virtual class, you may pay $17 for one class date/time. Choose the single class option from the drop down menu and complete the form that pops up. Be sure to add the date/time in the notes section of the form. I’ll send you a confirmation email and the zoom link for the class date/time when your payment comes through. If your child enjoys the class and wants to continue, you may add the remaining class dates for a pro-rated fee. If not, no worries, there’s no obligation to continue.

PRO-RATED CLASS FEE

If you wish to add the remaining class dates in a session, select the single class option from the drop down menu and adjust the quantity to the number of classes you are adding. The class dates are listed on each sign up page. If you are not sure, contact Kim at artzhubnc@gmail.com to verify the correct number of remaining classes. Complete the form when it pops up in full if new but skip most of it if you are returning. In both cases, always add your child’s name and be sure to put the class dates you are adding in the notes section.

If you add a whole session instead of using the single class option to get the pro-rated fee, you have two options.

  • Accept a credit for the extra classes. The credit may be applied to any ArtzHub service I offer for one year past the date of payment.

  • Accept pre-recorded art lesson videos to use up the credit for the extra classes.

  • No refunds will be granted in the event you pay for a full session instead of using the single class option to get the pro-rated fee.

Behavioral Expectations

My goal is to provide an online creative learning space that is joyful, friendly, and playful as well as relaxing, comforting and calming. I do my best to model calm and encourage creative problem solving in every class. Progress not perfection is a common thread and my mantra is “there are no mistakes in art”.

Respectful participants raise their hand to speak, don’t talk over me or their fellow students, pay attention and do their best. They have an open mind, a good attitude and are flexible. They are supportive and polite to each other when artwork is shared. They’re cooperative and willing to take direction.

Unacceptable behaviors are:

1.) Distracting the other students with loud (or out or turn ) laughing/talking/shouting.

2.) Distracting other students with physical movements (disrespectful or silly) meant to attract attention.

3.) Speaking disrespectfully or negatively to another student or to me.

4.) Drawing or writing inappropriate things and sharing it with the other students or me.

5.) Texting each other privately (or publicly) during the class in a way that results in self-distraction or the negative behaviors listed above.

6.) Changing their virtual backgrounds repeatedly.

Inappropriate behavior will be brought to the attention of the parent and may result the loss of fees paid, if inappropriate behavior continues.

I am passionate about preserving the integrity of my classes for those that behave appropriately.

Screenshots for Promotional Purposes

There is a “photo release for promotional purposes without a name” box on the registration form. You must type YES or NO.

Periodically, I will take screenshots of my students holding up their artwork.

I’ll let everyone know when we’re about to do it and give everyone the option of holding their artwork in front of their face if they are feeling shy.

I use these screenshots for promotional purposes on my website, in my newsletters, in emails and on flyers.

I always edit out all names from zoom screenshots.

If you say NO to photos on registration form, I will edit your child out of the photo entirely before using it. No problem.

Photos from home

If you say YES to photos on the registration form, please know that ArtzHub welcomes any and all photos you take at home of your child(ren) participating in our classes or proudly holding up his/her artwork. PLEASE send us your photos! :-)

The photos you send me are so very helpful and will be used for promotional purposes on my website, in my newsletters, in emails and on flyers.

shy students

No worries, friends. I understand and am here to support your child’s creative journey however I can.

  • If your child does not want to speak out loud during the class, he/she may simply give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down to indicate an answer. Or, thumb sideways for maybe.

  • And/or, students are always welcome to text me privately (via zoom) to ask a question or share something with me.

  • If your child wants to participate, but not be seen at all, he/she is welcome to turn off their video so that they can see us but we can’t see them.

  • If your child wants to participate but not be seen during the screenshot, he/she can place their artwork in front of their face when the time comes.

  • If your child wants to participate but does not want their face or their artwork to be seen during the screenshot, that’s OK. They can simply step away from the camera or turn off their video function for a couple of seconds.

Recommended Art Supplies

One of the hallmarks of my in-person after school art classes was the broad spectrum of quality art supplies I provided to my students each week. I taught them how to draw one-step-at-a-time AND how to use the materials listed below to finish their drawings.

We always draw in black permanent marker on acid free white art paper.

To finish our drawings, we recommend a variety of art supplies such as markers, crayons, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pencils and watercolor paint.

For your convenience, I have composed a list of affordable, quality art supplies that I can vouch for. It has photos, descriptions, links to both local and online stores as well as explanations regarding what we’ll be using them for. There are a lot of great brand names in the world of art supplies so please feel free to choose what works best for your child and your budget.

I understand that you may not purchase all of the art supplies I recommend and that is OK. Your child can use whatever you have at home and still enjoy a positive creative experience.
